Experiential Anatomy – 3 – D Anatomy
Written and presented by Joy Puleo, a physiologist and rehab clinician, this 9-week class will explore the dynamic nature of the moving body. As most Anatomy classes approach the body in a didactic one-dimensional manner, we will explore the anatomy of the body as it moves through all planes of motion.

This class is not simply about origin and insertion of muscles on the skeletal system, but rather how the musculoskeletal systems, the nervous system and the viscera support and is affected by the body’s natural movements.

We will start our exploration by examining, in depth, the skeletal structure of the spine, its mobility, flexibility and strength which provides the framework from which the nervous system and core musculature initiate movement. We will go on to explore in depth the various systems of the body, not as separate entities but as a coordinated whole.

Weeks 1-3 – Spine Cardiovascular system
Weeks 3-6 – Nervous system - Pelvis and lower leg – movement, gait and form
Weeks 7-9 – Nervous system - Ribcage, shoulder girdle, diaphragm and breathing
